Sentencing of Union Minister of State for Parliamentary and Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi to one-year jail term after he and 19 others were convicted by a Rampur court for breaching prohibitory orders in the run-up to the 2009 Lok Sabha election raises some disturbing questions.
Is it reasonable to punish someone after six years? Justice delayed is justice denied. And sentencing someone to one year for merely breaching prohibitory orders sounds like killing a mosquito with a hammer.
How is it Laloo and many Congress stalwarts are roaming free? A Raja has clearly put on court records that Manmohan Singh is as guilty as he is because he did everything to the then PM’s knowledge. If the law that can punish Naqvi has not even questioned MMS let alone sentencing him as it did A Raja for a six-month jail term. Even A Raja is roaming free.
Tharoor was clearly a top suspect in his wife’s murder. But no law will probe him during Congress rule. Even today he is mocking at the Delhi police to take him in for questioning.
THE HOW COME RAMPUR COURT IS SO SPECIAL AND DARING TO PUT A POLITICIAN BEHIND BARS?
If ever there was one sensible and honest politician it is Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. India is indeed strange and fearful place to live. Undertrials complete life-term without being sentenced or judged guilty. That is how fearful India is.
